Grace Enger brought ‘The It’s So Fun Tour’ to Schubas Tavern

When I see Grace Enger for the first time, she is standing on stage, beginning her set with a performance of “Think I Wanna See You Again.” It has been a much-anticipated moment since I discovered her music through the announcement of her opening for Maisie Peters back in 2023, but I was not able to attend any of those shows.

The night began with Jake Minch’s stripped-back set. He played both unreleased and released music, interacted a bit with the crowd, and even let it slip that a song of his would be featured in an upcoming episode of School Spirits. He provided commentary for the stories behind his songs, and there were a few people behind me loudly cheering him on.

Whether she had the band backing her or sat at the piano by herself, Grace poured emotion and excitement into her performance. She brought Jake out to perform their duet, “Good Stuff,” where they stood together at the microphone.

A few days before the show, Grace released two new songs, “Love Will Find Me” and “When I Think Of You,” as part of the deluxe edition of her EP, so she swapped out the setlist to make room for these. There’s something so special about smaller shows that really make you feel the connection between the artist and the audience, and this was no exception.

Her last two songs were her first release, “The Neighborhood,” and the inspiration behind the tour name, “It’s No Fun.” These were definitely the loudest performances from the crowd, especially when the bridges arrived.

Chicago successfully cheered her on enough after this for an encore performance, where she surprised us with her unreleased track, “Think Twice.” It was a sweet sendoff, and it definitely has me looking forward to new Grace Enger music in the future.

Overall, Grace Enger’s first headlining tour was amazing. The It’s So Fun Tour is on its way to the end now, but next time she is in your city, it is definitely something you won’t want to miss!
